A roguelike action game where every pixel is physically simulated: liquids flow, wood burns, gas explodes. You are a witch building custom spell wands while descending into a mountain.
L1What it is
You play a noita, a Finnish witch, descending through procedurally generated caves. The world is made of simulated pixels: you can dig, flood, burn and explode almost anything. Death is permanent, and the game hides an astonishing number of secrets.
L2How it plays
You fly, shoot spells and collect wands. The heart is wand building: combining spells and modifiers in a wand to create chains, triggers and explosions. It is very easy to kill yourself with your own creation, and many deaths are self-inflicted and hilarious.
L3Pixels & sound
The physics simulation is the art: every explosion leaves debris, every fire spreads, liquids mix. It looks amazing in motion. Music is atmospheric.
L4Coming back
Huge replay value, tons of secrets, and many players spend hundreds of hours. Free updates have added content over the years.
L5Value & tech
Requires a reasonable CPU because of the simulation. Verified on Steam Deck. Mouse and keyboard recommended for aiming.

The verdict
Verdict
Noita is a chaotic, brilliant sandbox of magic and physics. It is hard and opaque, but no other game makes every pixel matter like this one.
