A cheap, addictive survival game where your weapons fire automatically and you only move. It created a whole genre.
L1What it is
You choose a hero and survive 30 minutes against growing waves of monsters. Weapons attack on their own; you only control movement and choose upgrades when you level up.
L2How it plays
It starts slow and becomes a screen-filling firework of power. Weapons can evolve into stronger versions when combined with specific items. Unlocks come constantly: characters, stages, weapons and secrets.
L3Pixels & sound
Pixel art in the style of old gothic action games, with a deliberately simple look. Effects can become very chaotic.
L4Coming back
Huge replay value with tons of unlocks, paid DLC packs (including a Castlevania crossover) and free updates. Local co-op for up to four players.
L5Value & tech
$4.99 is ridiculous value. Runs on anything; Verified on Steam Deck, where it is perfect.

The verdict
Verdict
Vampire Survivors is the best five dollars you can spend on Steam. Simple, addictive and endlessly generous with unlocks.
